A Quaint Pastoral Charge Located in the Heart of North Hastings.
We have five churches on our pastoral charge. St. Paul's in Bancroft, St. Andrew's in L'Amable, and
Carlow in Boulter have services year round. St. Matthew's in Baptiste meets during the summer only, and Mayo
in Hermon has only one service a year. All the churches in our charge are located in scenic locations
throughout North Hastings.
To minister to our congregations, we have two dynamic and enthusiastic leaders. Reverend "Mir" Marienus Kenniphaas obtained his education at Queen's Theological College in Kingston and was ordained in 2003. Mir brings a new and fresh approach to our services, filled with energy and enthusiasm. He connects well with young and old alike. Mir is married to Cheryl and they live in Peterborough with their family.
After officially retiring in 2005, Rev. Dr. Kent Clayton "came home" to the Bancroft area to become our Associate Minister. Kent and his family started cottaging in the area when he was a child. While a student minister at Queen's Theological College, Kent purchased property on Baptiste Lake and later built his own cottage. Kent brings a wealth of experience from his positions in pastoral care and counselling. Over the past 36 years, he has worked in Toronto with the "Hippies" during the seventies, with the street people of Queen St. E. in the latter nineties, in the largest and richest United Churches, and he has also worked in the smallest and poorest United Churches. Kent is a certified Family and Marriage Counselor and Mediator. He is a published writer and received his doctorate from Fuller Theological College. Kent is married to Joanna and has three married children and three grandchildren, all of whom love to spend their summers at the cottage on Baptiste lake.
Our people endeavour to make each congregation:
A celebrating place where everyone can share the joy of spiritual life in worship and fellowship.
A serving place where everyone can discover the unique gifts God has given us to serve the needs of others while extending a loving hand to our community.
A belonging place where, in Baptism, everyone can share the joy of a new life. In Worship and Communion we praise God for the gift of love through Jesus Christ, and where, at special times each year, we discover the wonder and joy of our Christian faith.
A spriritual place where everyone can receive spiritual strength for our lives, direction for tomorrow, and healing for our deepest hurts.
A Place for Everyone to be part of a vital Christian community.
